At first, the customers are migrated from pre-existing databases, by using RapidStart Services. However, new customers must also be created. Depending on the different application areas and functions therein that a company is using, different fields of the customer card will become important.

This document provides an introduction to the most important fields on the Customer Card page.

To fill in the minimum required fields, follow these steps:

Create new Customer Master in the Business Central.

Click on Sales option shows on Ribbon tab, then click on Customers. System will open the Customer List page.

Click on new button and create new Customer Master.

Important fields need to fill on the Customer Master:

General Tab:

On General tab we need to fill below fields.

No. –> No. can be auto updated by the system or user can manually enter the Number Series.

Name –> Enter Customer Name

Credit Limit –> Enter Credit Limit value

Salesperson Code –> Select Salesperson Code

State Code –> Select State Code

Blocked –> Ship/Invoice/All User can select any one option on the basis of that system will not allow to pass transaction with that customer card.

Address & Contact Tab:

On Address tab we can enter general information like Address, Country, City, Postcode etc…

Invoicing Tab:

On the Invoicing tab we need to fill below fields.

Gen. Bus. Posting Group –> Select Posting Group from the list. The main purpose for general posting groups is to identify the Income Statement accounts for each subsidiary, or supporting ledger. General posting groups are used to link the general ledger to the following:

• Item transactions, resource transactions, or both from purchases and
sales documents.
• Item journals and job journals.
• Machine centers, work centers, and item charges.

Customer Posting Group –> Select Posting Group from the list. Purpose of this group is to Map the accounts receivable account, payment discount accounts, invoice and application rounding accounts, and interest and fee accounts that relate to customers.

Currency Code –> Select Currency Code from the list. it is require in case of Foreign Customer and user want to make transactions in the foreign currency.

Price Calculation Method –> Select Lowest in the Price calculation method. it is require if we are using Sales Price functionality.

Customer Price Group –> Select Customer Price Group from the list. it is required if we are using Sales Price functionality. here we can define Customer prices groupwise and assign it to the customers.

Customer Discount Group –> Select Discount Group from the list. it is required if we want define customer discount. we can define discount group and assign it to the customers.

Payment Tab:

On Payment tab we can enter Payment terms and Payment Method for the customer, same will be flow in the document. Payment terms is used to calculate due date on the Sales Invoice document.

Shipping Tab:

On Shipping tab we can enter below details, it is not mandatory fields but we can use it if we require.

Ship To Code –> Select Ship to Code. it is require in case of customer has multiple Shipping addresses and customer want to get delivery on that address. we can create multiple ship to address code, here one code we set as default and same will be flow in the document.

Shipping Method Code and Agent –> Select code from the list.

Tax Information Tab:

On Tax Information tab we can enter Tax related details like, PAN No., GST No., GST Customer Type, GST Registration Type and Assessee Code.

FactBox:

In the factbox we can upload customer’s photo and related documents.

Customer Card Ribbon:

On the Ribbon tab we get various features and functionalities related Sales and Customer.

In the New Document tab, We get the functionality of Creating documents from the customer master. We can create Sales Quote, Sales Order, Sales Invoice, Sales Credit Memo and Reminder.

By using Approve tab, we can Approve or Reject the Customer Master if we have setup approval process for customers.

We can send Customer Master for Approval, if we have set up approval process for customer.

On Navigate tab, we define ship to addresses, Customer Bank Accounts, Sales Price List, Contact etc..

On Customer tab, we can define setup for TDS and TCS for customer.
